Nature’s Sunshine was founded in 1972 by Gene Huges, through a personal experience with the effects of cayenne pepper for his stomach pain. When his wife suggested he put the cayenne pepper in a gel capsule to avoid the discomfort, it was the start of their new vitamin and herbal supplement company. Direct marketing seemed to be the best way for their company to get the word out and educate consumers about the benefits of their products and it allowed their sales force to share in the success of their company. Today Nature’s Sunshine Products (NSP) can be found in 30 countries, represented by nearly 600,000 distributors.
